Week 5: Expect the Munity
This week I am researching the different concepts of collecting water on a property. Many properties around my town are on wells. If the agriculture property has a well this would definitely be a bonus. If not then I would need to see if there is groundwater, a stream or spring nearby.
Water-
Well it is so essential in life
Well literally I hope that I find one. Water and how I get it will be a cost.
- how big of a well do I need?
- can I use rain catchment in our region?
- how far can it be from my home?
- is the land going to be available when I am ready to purchase?
I have been driving down various roads to check out land availability. I am also going to go to the village and ask if I can get a map of the groundwater regions for me and surrounding towns? I do not know if this exists but I am going to find out.
I am also going to use my friend to help me, since he has a large amount of experience with purchasing land and other constructions.
This matters to me because I want to continue to grow my knowledge of gardening further.
This matters to me, I turned in my recommendation to teach agriculture biology next year so I will have the educational resources to explore new options for my personal agriculture adventure. I am very motivated at my school as I see the progress of the new construction for the agriculture wing. It will be done by next school year.
I want to keep challenging myself when I retire and I love being in the outdoors.
I am staying motivated because there is so much new material that I am learning that I must consider.
